SafeForLLM ("we", "us", or "our") operates the safeforllm.com website and the SafeForLLM redaction service. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our service.

2. Information We Collect

We collect information you provide directly and information generated automatically when you use the service:

• Account data: email address, name, and authentication provider details when you create an account.
• Usage data: request counts, feature usage, and interaction logs to improve the service.
• Content submitted for redaction: text or documents you upload are processed for PII detection and redaction. See Section 4 for how we handle this content.
• Payment data: billing details are collected and processed by our payment processor, Stripe. We do not store full credit card numbers.
• Device & log data: IP address, browser type, operating system, and referral URLs collected automatically.

3. How We Use Your Information

• To provide, maintain, and improve the SafeForLLM service.
• To process redaction and restoration requests.
• To manage your account and process payments.
• To communicate with you about updates, security alerts, and support.
• To detect, prevent, and address technical issues and abuse.
• To comply with legal obligations.

4. Content & PII Processing

When you submit text or documents for redaction, our system detects personally identifiable information (PII) and replaces it with tokens. Key points:

• Your original content is stored with each redaction, because it is what lets you restore the redacted copy later. It stays until you delete that redaction or your account.
• Originals, redacted outputs and restoration mappings are accessible only to your account.
• We do not use your submitted content to train models or for any purpose other than providing the redaction service.
• You may delete any redaction, or your whole account, at any time from within the product. See Data Retention below.

5. Data Sharing & Third Parties

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only in the following circumstances:

• Service providers: we use third-party services (e.g., Stripe for payments, AWS for hosting) that process data on our behalf under strict contractual obligations.
• Legal requirements: we may disclose information if required by law, court order, or government regulation.
• Business transfers: in the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your data may be transferred as part of that transaction.

6. Data Retention

We retain account information for as long as your account is active. Each redaction — the original, the redacted output, any uploaded or generated documents, and the restoration mapping — is kept until you delete it.

Deleting a redaction removes all of those permanently. Deleting your account, which you confirm through a link we email to you, removes every redaction and stored document, your profile and your sign-in methods, and cancels any paid plan.

After deletion we keep only what we need for accounting and to prevent abuse: a record of how many redactions were made and when (never their content), and records of payments.

7. Security

We implement industry-standard security measures including encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest, access controls, and regular security reviews. For more details, see our Security page.

8. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you.
• Request correction of inaccurate data.
• Request deletion of your data.
• Object to or restrict certain processing.
• Data portability.

9. Cookies

We use essential cookies for authentication and session management. We do not use third-party advertising cookies. Analytics cookies, if used, are anonymised and can be opted out of from your browser settings.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date. Your continued use of the service constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
